My little 800x600 laptop screen cannot show the entire splash screen when Xubuntu boots. Is
there any way to change it's resolution so I can see the whole thing with the progress bar
as my machine boots? Is there a kernel switch to do this? I've already set VGA=771 so that I
get full screen console once booted.

This will defeat the vga=771 switch that allows me a lot more text on my screen. I don't
want to lose that.
