Author etch: problem with reading mpg files

Hello,

When reading an mpg file (audio + video) the image freezes +/- 0.5 sec
at regular interval (+/- 15 secondes)
There is no problem with the sound.

At first I thought it was a problem with my new hardware (asus P5B +
asustek eax1600pro + core 2 + 2 Giga RAM)

But it was not.
Because it is ok when I boot from knoppix5.1.1 and read the same mpg file

So, it must be something with kaffeine or with some new libs from etch.

Does someone experience the same problem ??

carex.

Which video driver does your xine-engine use? Put it to auto. Have the
latest w32-codecs installed? Which Kernel do you use? 2.6.18-4-i686,
-k7, -amd64?

Sorry. I think I do understand now what "put it to auto" means.
Here what I found (I did not change anything)

-> kaffeine player => settings => Xine Engine Parameters =>

Audio Driver is on "auto"
Video Driver is on "auto"
