I have some older computers and a couple of them have a
Kingston KNE40BT NIC. This is the DEC 21041, or tulip chip
set. I need some help in getting Knoppix to use the card.
Let me tell you what I have done so far, and perhaps we can
go from there.

1. ifconfig -a shows:
knoppix@Knoppix:~$ ifconfig -a
eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:C0:F0:23:9F:AC
BROADCAST MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
RX packets:5 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:3 errors:0 dropped:55 overruns:0 carrier:0
collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000
RX bytes:1820 (1.7 KiB) TX bytes:1522 (1.4 KiB)
Interrupt:11 Base address:0x2c00

lo Link encap:Local Loopback
inet addr:127.0.0.1 Mask:255.0.0.0
inet6 addr: ::1/128 Scope:Host
UP LOOPBACK RUNNING MTU:16436 Metric:1
RX packets:29 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:29 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
collisions:0 txqueuelen:0
RX bytes:2209 (2.1 KiB) TX bytes:2209 (2.1 KiB)

2. I tried booting with:
knoppix acpi=off noapic nolapic pnpbios=off pci=bios
but no luck.

3. I checked to see if tulip was loaded with an lsmod.
Loaded, but used by zero.

4. My homework on the net makes me believe that getting
this card to work requires the tulip driver of the correct
level (Pass 3, Rev 21 for example). Don't know the level of
the tulip driver used in Knoppix.

So, anyone have some ideas, or is it time to buy some new NIC's?

Thanks,
Dave
