Just incase anyone here has some Mepis Linux experience, I recently
bought a 2005 version of Mepis Linux from a local retailer. KPPP details
is showing that bytes are being moved to my box, even though I have no
network applications running. Is Mepis trying to automaticaly update
itself?

The command "netstat -tup" should show you what sites are being contacted.
If you are root, you should also see what programs are initiating the
connections.
Read "man netstat"

Thanks Mumia
Ran netstat -tup and it seemed to show ClamAV was connected. Waited for
the uninitiated (by me) network activity then killed ClamAV process. The
downloading activity ceased.
