Hi

Many times this pc is running two X sessions, one for each user (one in
crtl-alt+F7 end other in ctrl+alt+F8), and since upgraded to xorg 1.3 that
many times (not allways), when closing one session of one user, it closes
the other session too.

Are there more people using xorg 1.3 in multi-session having this issue?

I'm having trouble detecting the trouble source, not sure if it is the new
xorg or the new nvidia drivers...

Thanks for any replys.

You don't kill X11 server when you log out?
Could adjust in your X11 Display Manager (gdm, kdm or xdm)
configuration file

Sorry, don't understand your ideia...

i don't logout, i lock my desktop, and then my kid starts a new session...
say i'm on ctrl+alt+F7 and he is on ctrl+alt+F8, this is the way it has been
for years.
the problem is, many times when logout my kid's desktop, it shuts-down his
desktop and mine also, and all my running programs.
this is only happening after i upgraded the system to xorg 1.3

i'm waiting for some updates from xorg or nvidia driver to fix this...
there are only two nvidia driver versions compatible with xorg 1.3, and i'm
having problems with both.

oh, i use kde and kdm.

thanks for your reply

Ok, I understood this part.

I don't think it's a problem with Xorg 1.3. I think that when you log
out, your display manager (kdm) is killing the X server (Xorg), and
doing this, it also kills YOU session.

Ok, that shouldn't change anything, except which display manager's
configuration files you have to check.
You could try to reconfigure kdm or Xorg.
sudo dpkg-reconfigure -plow kdm
sudo dpkg-reconfigure -plow xserver-xorg

I found out it wasn't just when logout, it also appens when just switch
users, so it looks like xorg crashing when changing display 1: to o:

I remenber something then; uninstalled beryl and all its dependencies, and
i've comented the extra lines in xorg.conf for beryl to work (i was not
using beryl anyway).
Maybe xorg 1.3 have some conflict whit beryl 2.0, and i someday i will teste
the new compiz-beryl fusion.
So now i'm on tests again for a few days...

I'll give news when sure about this
