The following updates are from the distributedcomputing.info website
( http://distributedcomputing.info/ ). These updates cover public distributed
computing projects (projects in which anyone can participate).

May 23, 2005

- ( http://distributedcomputing.info/ap...tml#clickforest ) Ett klick
for skogen (A Click for the Forest) now only needs to raise 840,000 SEK
(about $US123,500) by the end of June to protect the Arrenjarkas old growth
forest in Sweden. But the project is 300,000 SEK short of its goal. Please
consider clicking once per day to help the project reach its goal.

- the ( http://distributedcomputing.info/ap...#multifactorial ) Search
for Multifactorial Primes found prime 166614!17 + 1 (46924 digits) on May 21

- ( http://distributedcomputing.info/ap-math.html#sigps ) SIGPS found prime
99333406^16384 + 1 on May 9

- ( http://distributedcomputing.info/ap-math.html#nfsnet ) NFSNET completed
sieving 11^212 + 1 and began sieving 2^751 + 1 yesterday

- ( http://distributedcomputing.info/ap....html#predictor )
Predictor@home had problems with its work unit generator on May 17, and
discovered some problems with its website on May 21. It is resolving both
problems, but participants may not be able to download work units, and may
have validation problems with results they submit, for a few days.

- ( http://distributedcomputing.info/ap....html#lhcathome ) LHC@home's
work unit table became corrupted on May 20, and no new work units have been
available since then. But it completed its latest run successfully, and the
LHC@home study results matched control study results 100%. Also, the project
plans to start a large study of "the beam to beam effect" some time this week.

- the ( http://distributedcomputing.info/ap...#einsteinathome )
Einstein@Home project servers were shut down briefly today to move them to a
new computer cabinet

- new ( http://distributedcomputing.info/news.html#050522 ) news article: a
short overview of

- new ( http://distributedcomputing.info/news.html#050522-2 ) news article:
an overview of the LIGO observatory, for which

Einstein@home is processing data
