Dear All:

The university of Melbourne has launched a new "Master of Engineering
in
Distributed Computing (MEDC)" degree program. This new degree program
has been designed to:
* provide expertise for developing service-oriented, enterprise
computing systems and applications that need to operate in
wired/wireless network environments
* promote the utilisation of industry standard distributed computing
technologies such as J2EE and .NET
* focus on highly specialised distributed computing topics such as
distributed systems, cluster and grid computing, distributed
algorithms,
mobile systems programming, sensor networks and Web services
* emphasise the design and development of distributed computing
technologies and their application in e-Science or e-Business areas
through a compulsory team-based project, and
* be taught with a combination of academic and practitioners input.

An article that appeared in The Age puts our new program nicely in
perspective: Please browse at:

For further details on the course and admission, please see:
http://www.cs.mu.oz.au/courses/mbc/medc.html
There are two intakes each year and we are already admitting the first
batch of students for coming semester 2, 2005 (which starts in Aug
month). We admit both Australian and international students.

Please share info about this new degree offering at Melbourne with
students/friends interested in specializing in Distributed Computing
including Grid Computing.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Cheers
Raj
