Intelligent Media Systems and Services Research Laboratory (IMSS)
School of Systems Engineering
The university of Reading is one of the top twenty research-intensive
universities in the UK. The IMSS Laboratory invites applications from
career research scientists and technologists, for the posts listed
below ranging from Research Assistant to Senior Research Fellow. You
will work on exciting international collaborative research projects
funded by the European Community IST Research Programme. These
projects are pushing forward the frontiers of advanced model-driven and
service-oriented semantic architectures as underpinned by agent
technologies, middleware and ambient intelligence towards the
realisation of context-aware secure and pervasive computing to serve
the future information society.
We are offering to self-motivated individuals with research leadership
potential the following opportunities to work within a highly creative
team and enjoy the very interesting international collaborative
environment of emergent technologies research with ample opportunity
for presenting their work at centres of excellence in Europe and
worldwide. Successful candidates will have specialist capabilities in
any one of the areas listed below (All positions full-time fixed term
3-4 years):

Candidates for the posts of Senior Research Fellow and Research Fellow
will have a relevant PhD in Computer Science or a closely associated
discipline (or equivalent R&D experience). For the post of Senior
Research Fellow evidence of research leadership potential is essential
e.g. relevant work experience in R&D Project Management will be
required.

Candidates for this level of post will possess a relevant MSc in
Computer Science or a closely associated discipline (exceptionally a
1st Class Honours degree with a relevant final year project). For the
successful candidates there will be also an opportunity to pursue a
relevant PhD Programme of Research.
