I have redhat/fedora 2.6 installed and I need to update to kernel version
2.6.6 and patch it with a iBCS/ABI patch file so that I can use some old sco
XOFF and/or a.out binaries.

I have downloaded linux-2.6.6.tar.gz (kernel) and linux-abi-2.6.6.diff.bz2
(ABI patch).

I have recomplied kernels before, but never upgraded and applied patches. I
am a bit (let's say very) confused about the exact steps to follow in
upgrading the kernel to 2.6.6 and applying the patch. Can anyone tell me
exactly where to put the files and what commands to issue in what sequence?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Philby
