| hi!
regarding samba... I've tried to copy 2.6GB iso image
to windows machine via samba to burn this iso
but only 2GB transfered via samba and copy procedure stopped.
so, is there any file-size limit or it is problem with
windows filesystem (or maybe linux)?
windows has ntfs, and linux has reiserfs
thanks in advance
ps I'm now working on "file-splitting" this iso so I
can copy them to win box

You are correct on the file size limit... I am unsure what the max file
size limit is in Linux, but I can tell you in older versions of windows
(pre-Windows XP) there was a 2 Gig file size limit for the OS. I know this
because I hit this file size limit with my Outlook PST files (and I found
out from researching that issue that the max PST file size is
mostly limited by the OS. I think this limit of file size was
upgraded to 4 Gig when Windows XP was released. However this I'm not 100%
sure of the XP max limit, as I switched to Linux right before XP was
released and haven't looked back or regretted my decision since.

| it is XP that I'm talking about
and I'm pretty sure that XP ntfs can
hold files larger than 2GB...
in process of creating DVD Video I'm using
mpeg2 files larger than 2Gigs (from 3.5 up to 5Gigs)
I'm thinking that this has something with Samba,
but I'm not sure is it Samba or something else...
but I've managed to solve this "copy" problem

It's not Samba.... I have moved 2-8Gig file(s) on occasion via smb without
problems.

It sounds like your XP system has a FAT32 file system/partition which does
not support >2GB files. If you have an NTFS partition copy the file to
there.
