| I installed Fedora Core 3 on my machine today, it sucked big donky
huevos!
Folks, Linux just keeps getting worse every day! Everytime we try
Linux, we get more and more amazed at how bad this toy OS is. But of
all the wide spectrum of Linux crap, FC3 has to be the worst piece of
shit I ever installed on my computer. First thing we did was to try to
configure the httpd server: tried the stupid Redhat httpd
configuration GUI tool, it wouldn't save our settings. How 'bout the
gnome screen saver logon screen fonts and graphics? Butt ugly. Apps
crash, up2date freezes, the GUI is totally inconsistent from app to
app, drag-n-drop sucks, not even cut and paste works well under Linux.
I have installed all the updates, and FC3 still crashes once in a
while
(about once a day!), when on my system Windows XP almost never
crashed.
Of course it may be hardware related.
NOT!
I suspect my NVIDIA video card to create problems, because the current
crashes look very similar to what I experienced one year ago, with bad
NVIDIA drivers. It was quickly fix by installing the lates drivers
then.
The problem is that I cannot get get the latest (for kernel 2.6)
driver to
install, and I have seen other people experiencing similar problems.
My system is Athlon 2.5, Nvidia FX5200, 512M DRAM.
Linux just keeps getting worse and worse and the fact that we, the
consumers are beta testers for this crap makes it even worse.

But you are XXXXing racist and you need to be sacked

In any case, I would employ only someone who knows
enough about GNU/Linux not some M$ shills who have little
or no education on matters relating to GNU/Linux,

Lying bullshit. Linux is not a 'toy OS'.

You knew this but you still insist of installing Fedora? Who put a gun to
your head? Or maybe you did, and blew out the one remaining brain cell you
were blessed with.

A: Linux does not keep getting worse; it gets better.
B: Fedora is not all of Linux.
It may have some problems, but cutting edge software always does. And if
you weeren't interested in residing at the cutting edge, why did you
install FC3, which has barely just been released?
Answer? You're just one more lying, pathetic troll who can't come up with
any new material. Get a life 'Nate'

configure it right then you have no problems with your nice fedora
distribution. keep in mind that you have to read and understand how your
system works and you will have much fun my friend.

Don't blame the tool. It is well known that the Fedora series is not meant
for production environments. With all the problems you seem to be having,
if you are too lazy to educate yourself on how to use Linux and how to fix
things if you break them, you deserve windows.

Naw, you're just a toy sysadmin.
You should stick to your plastic Fischer Price tool set until you're old
enough to work enough with grown up tools.

The Fedora Project's home page makes it clear that by using Fedora you
must accept the possibility of problems from any of a number of places.
If you require stability you should not be using Fedora but a more
established distribution.

his words were out of frastration, I beleive we all encounter once or
few in the pass. I frankly think that linux still has lotz of room to
improve from trying almost 1/4 of the available version out there.
The only user friendly unix core OS is Apple. the rest would require a
least some time, if not great deal of time to learn the OS.
Only smooth and dummy like newbie user friendier linux version is
mandrake. from my personal experience only.

I installed FC3 on Omen.com because I wanted to try the latest
Spamassassin. I had quite a bit of trouble getting DNS working and
getting TWO internet interfaces working. I'm still fine tuning my
spam/virus detection. A 250 GB Maxtor drive went bad. Lots of fun.
BUT it hasn't crashed.

I concur. Fedora Core is more for experts who likes to try out new features
and be able to fix minor problems and still be able to fully utilitize many
of the services (server, workstation, and personal desktop in a networked
environment.)
For those who want stability (whether expert or not), I would rather they
buy the supported distributions than complaining about Fedora Core.
I like Fedora Core the way it is, as long as it's not too bleeding edge. I
can always install bleeding edge manually.

This can't POSSIBLY be a piece of "FUD" posted by someone with an agenda
(probably pro-M$).
Can it?
I guess your troll worked, though. You've stirred up the ant-pile.
My bet is that you have never even downloaded Fedora Core, and have no
experience with Linux whatsoever. And that you are probably under the
age of 18.

We too wasted 2 days trying FC3, what a misserable wast of time. At
the end, we fdisk'ed the partition and installed Windows XP Pro SP2.
