| I think it's safe to close this one out. The problem boiled down to one item. The
SIIG card that I was using. I was using two of its ports for the Linux side, and they
are configured in a non-standard way. When the printer and modem were placed on the
same ports on the computer (not the SIIG card), then everyone was happy, and so am I.
SIIG has a FAQ on how to standarize the two ports. This was looking pretty grim until
that discovery.
It looks like with a little fiddling I'll be able to get these devices onto my
rtlinux and my operational needs will be a little more comfortably equipped. I still
have a hope of modernizing this with Fedora. Quite possibly before the end of this
