I have no problem with my sound in Fedora Core 3 except when trying to
play a CD. CD plays through CD player but no sound is heard. I checked
my mixer settings and all seems OK. I googled but failed to find a
thread. Can someone help me with this problem?

Thanks

Is the analog sound cable from CD drive to sound card connected? On many
new computers this is missing because Windows doesn't use it.

I had a similar problem; CDs played under FC2, not 3. Things to try:
1) Volume control has a special control for CD's - out of view when the
mixers are first opened.
2) CD player settings : the device needs to be /media/cdplayer. /media
appears to be a special /mnt directory reserved for cdroms etc. This is
new in FC3
