Author Printers for FC3?

Does anyone know of a good, recent (still available off-the-shelf) inkjet
printer that's fully supported by CUPS? I printed out the
linuxprinting.org compatibility list and went shopping, but _none_ of the
printers in the "works perfectly" column was still available.

Alternatively, does anyone know of a Linux driver for the Lexmark 3150
printer-scanner? One came with the system that my wife gave me. It works
well enough in Windoze, but it's a paperweight in Linux. Lexmark offers a
free (though not GPL) driver development kit, but I'm not up to writing
system software in C++.

Your kidding right, the HP-5650, HP-5850 and most all the other HP Deskjet
printers work just fine in FC3 using CUPS. Thanks mainly to the support
Hewitt-Packard provides to Linux. I personally have the HP-5650 as a
replacement for an old HP-3820 that bit the dust. It took about 30 seconds
to update the printer configuration in FC3 using CUPS and about 10 minutes
in Windows 2000/XP.

I recently bought an Epson RX500 and it works well. I don't believe it's
categorized as "works perfectly" on the linuxprinting.org site, but so far
I've run into no problems. (Getting borderless printing working is tricky,
though.) This is all with the GIMP-Print 5.0 beta-2 drivers. I later
discovered that Epson's got drivers of its own on a subsidiary's Web site:
http://www.epkowa.co.jp/english/linux_e/dl_spc.html. I've not tried those
for printing, but I am using their SANE drivers. (The RX500 is a
multifunction printer/scanner.) I expect that other recent Epsons would
work about as well, but I can't say I've tried them.
