Has anyone gotten "unbuffer" to work?

| The "expect" package includes the utility "unbuffer" which is
supposed to allow you to turn off buffering when the output of
a program is redirected to a file or piped to another program.
(So you can see the output line-by-line as it's processed rather
than waiting for buffers to fill and be flushed.)
I've installed the "expect" package via YUM on both a Red Hat 9
and Fedora Core 2 system, but on neither system does "unbuffer"
appear to work - I get no output at all.
Has anyone had better success with this utility on either of
these distros?
Regards,
Charles Sullivan

It doesn't work at all in Fedora Core 1. I haven't taken the time
to find out why.

Thanks for the feedback Bob. I've since discovered that the
"expect" package is included on the installation CDs for both
RH9 and FC2, but apparently not installed as part of the standard
workstation installations. They're the same versions as those
installed via YUM.

Most of the "expect" package works just fine. I've used it for quite a
few years. It's just the "unbuffer" script that doesn't work, and
looking at it just now I have _no_clue_ about what the heck it's trying
to do. :-?

I've filed a bug report at:
<https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzill...g.cgi?id=143963>
You may want to add your 2 cents.
