Adding Gnome Menu Item FC3

I've created a launcher for an app I installed, but I can't figure how to
add the launcher to the menus.

I've read the Gnome doc's that say to open the URI "applications:///", but
when I do that it's read-only and I can't copy the launcher there. I've
also seen a doc that says to right-click on any item already in the menu
and choose Entire Menu -> Add Item, but that selection is greyed out.

So what now?
