Hi, there,

Is it a bug that the mozilla v1.7.6 update package for fedora core 2
requires desktop-file-utils >=0.9 ?

I saw desktop-file-utils v0.9.3 available with fedora core 3 and guess
it will work with FC2. On FC2, desktop-file-utils only contains 3 files
(i.e., /usr/bin/desktop-file-install, desktop-file-validate,
desktop-menu-tool. They are for manuplations of .desktop files).
However, I think mozilla should not despends on desktop-file-utils at all.

Is this a bug?

Cheers,

Yep; https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzill...g.cgi?id=152220

A better solution would be to download the src.rpm and build your own
after modifying (correcting) the spec file;

mozilla-1.7.6-1.2.2.src.rpm 25-Mar-2005 15:50 29M

Hah, I was actually trying to file the bug (or find the relevant bug
report entry) but failed. I did not want to create an acount to do so.

Accroding to the analysis I belive the guy packed the rpms must have
used fc3 spec files. But my point is that the mozilla pacake shoud not
depend on desktop-file-utils at all (whatever version, wether on fc2 or
on fc3). What is the point for mozilla to depend on a .desktop file utility?

Yeah, I know how to solve the problem. But thanks for your suggestions.
And mostly, thanks for your confirmation of the bug.
