Author Problem with VMWare and IAR on Fedora Core 6

I've been testing VMWare Workstation on both Fedora Core 6 and SuSE 10.0
I like Fedora Core 6 a bit better because it is faster and winblows XP
runs smoother in VMWare as well as the USB disk access which is
exctremmely slow under SuSE. I do have serious problems though when
running VMWare under Fedora, problems that don't exist at all when
running VMWare under SuSE.

The IAR key USB dongle is not recognized by IAR C Compiler when running
winblows XP under Fedora Core 6 while it is working like a champ with SuSE
10.0

It looks like Fedora will not let the winblows session keep control of the
dongle. Any idea to solve the problem?
The compiler will not work without IAR being able to identify the dongle
before it starts compiling.
