Author Xemacs shells die when background process terminates, FC5 only

On FC5 (both 32 and 64 bit) Xemacs has a problem with it's shells. When a
background process terminates, either naturally or when I kill it, the
shell dies. This is a problem on FC5 only, Xemacs on FC4 works fine. Does
anyone have any idea what might be happening?
