I have a dual-boot laptop with XP/FC5 on it. I use the "chainloader"
option in grub to boot into regular user mode of XP. However, recently
I needed a way to boot into "safe" mode and I just don't find a way to
do that.

How do I update grub to allow me to boot into XP's safe mode, as
needed?

You can boot into XP safe mode from Grub , but you have to be very quick
about it , you will have to press F8 a millisecond after pressing [Enter] to
boot into XP or perhaps pressing both F8 & [Enter] at the same time.
It takes a bit of practice , but it can be done .
