I can get poptop installed and running.. and i can log in with any
username/pass.. however, this only works if no encryption is used.. i
would like to have some type of encryption..but from what i see out
there on the net, i have to recompile my kernel to get any type of
support for this.

1. Is there another option that doesnt involve recompiling the kernel.
2. Is there another vpn server that i can use that is eaiser than poptop.
