FVS318v3 to FVS318v1 tunnel
|

| Hi All,
I have been using FVS318 v1 and v2 routers for a while for VPN tunnels
between client sites and they work great, as does the SafeNet 10 software. I
cannot for the life of me get FVS318v3 to FVS318v1 tunnel to connect. I have
tried to update the firmware, used FQDN and IP addresses, I notice that the
v1 and v2 don't seem to use authentication and the v 3 seems to require it.
I wish Netgear had never changed the interface or come up with the "Wizard".
I could set up two of the old routers with a tunnel in about ½ an hour. I
have been beating on this thing for a week. I have even replaced routers. Is
there a comprehensive document that discusses the settings between FVS318v3
and FVS318v1? I am at a loss.
Thanks,
Bill Lobb

| Shoot - I just did a search, and this post from yesterday came up. I'm in the exact same boat - what a huge PIA! My time is worth big bucks though - I've already spent about an hour trying to mess around with this, I'm going to call Netgear Premium Support (1-800-448-1696). It's per incident at $45, which seems cheap to me compared to Microsoft's $245.
Still, I shouldn't have to pay $45 at all...

| Hi Wayne,
did you get it running? I've installed over 40 FVS318 without any problem. Also connecting to Netscreen is no big deal. Until I got my first FVS318v. I can get a tunnel up and running I can ping, even a telnet session starts to work .... a simple listening however freezes the connection.... So did you manage to get it working? B.t.w. I've got the latest firmware installed.
Cheers Wim. | |

Yes, I did call Netgear support for $35, and they walked me through it. Took a while though. What exactly are you looking for? I have it on my list to do some screen printouts...
