Author ipsec modules in linux kernel 2.4.27?

Greetings:

I would appreciate a dialog with anyone who has
successfully built linux kernel >2.4.20 (2.4.27) with
ipsec modules. I am having unresolved symbol
problems in 'esp4.o' and 'ip_gre.o'.

I would also appreciate any references to
how these native modules are used (what brings
up the new interfaces, how to configure, etc.)
The bulk of all vpn resources on linux relate
to *swan implementations and KLIPS, etc. and
those packages' ipsec implementations, or to
kernel 2.6 specific modules and tools but there
is a dearth of data on 2.4.

All replies much appreciated.

The missing symbols were in the kernel but were
versioned.

Rebuilding the kernel with CONFIG_MODVERSIONS
turned off fixed the problem.
