Tripper,
You may also have need to review those links.
OP,
There are two routes for anonymous USENET postings;
NNTP via a Mail2News Gateway and NNTP via a Remailer.
One may have a remailer send the USENET destined message to a
Mail2News Gateway using the To:, Anon-To:, or Remail-To: directive.
Also by using the Anon-Post-To:/Post-To: (CPunk) or Post: (Mixmaster)
directive provided the remailer has post capabilities.
When doing so the News Posting Route is defined by the Remailer.
That route may be either via a Mail2News Gateway or direct via a NNTP server.
In other words using the directive Anon-Post-To:/Post-To:/Post: one
does not necessarily avoid the use of Mail2News Gateways unless aware
of the route and defines the final remailer.
The News Posting Route is shown in the remailer-conf of Reliable
Remailers and may be gleened from the attributes capability flag of
Mixmaster Remailer keys.
Nm = supports posting to Usenet through a mail-to-news gateway.
Np = supports direct posting to Usenet.
