Yes, I changed it over a couple of days ago and stats have picked it up
now. I may change the remailer address at a later date so that it
resides within its own sub-domain. This will make it more portable in
future should I suffer any ISP issues or other desires to host it
somewhere else. For the moment though, I'll see how it goes. :-)

Nice going Zax. I don't get very many complaints at all. Grand total of 3
to date. Two wanted their e-mails blocked and one wanted the name of a
news sender. I explained there was nothing I could do. Heck, when I looked
at the group just for the devil of it, it was a "he says, she says"
squabble. In fact, pretty mild for Usenet
Now if I could only get Mercury to make a certificate to enable SSL.......

Hello,
The MercuryE module does not support SSL/TLS.
The SSL/TLS implementation in MercuryS is poor.
One main deficiency is nonacceptance of connections from servers using
self signed certificates. (Or not signed by trusted root authorities?)
In either case the TLS/SSL feature will result in many broken connections.
Ciao!

Hi Twisty,
I get more complaints regarding my mail2news than I probably ever will
about the remailer. People who can't be bothered or can't figure out
remailers seem to use m2n's as an easy way to hide their details.
I'm considering putting the m2n back to nym-only usage which was its
intended role in the first place. Now that the banana remailer can post
directly to the news server and bypass the m2n completely, I don't see
that it provides a great deal of value to the community. If anyone
feels otherwise then I'd like to hear about it.

Learning is fun, although I think you've taken to running a remailer
like a fish to water. :-)
If you want to run an SSL/TLS MTA, you could consider running it under
Linux. Panta does this using VMware to have Windows and Linux running
on the same box, but you could run a pretty beefy MTA under Linux on
anything upwards from a 400MHz PC if you happen to have such a thing
going spare.

Personally I post pretty much in the clear unless it is to several hobby
groups where I post through nyms. (Like I had time to pursue any hobbies
this year, towed my boat home from winter storage, towed it back to winter
storage, it never saw anything but rainwater) Next year looks just as long
or short, depending on how you look at it (but for me, busy
BTW, I am pretty sure my nyms are configured to reply to AAM through your
mail2news@bananasplit.info. Yup, just checked them, they are
We do need to be able to post through our nyms so we need some gateways.
Would you consider accepting posts directly from the nymservers directly
like Komite, AT, Hod, Panta, NAN, Blackhole (if it ever come back) etc.?
I guess am not in a position to say much. You provide a heck of a lot more
than I do. I just simply operate a re-mailer. No stats publications, pinger
results, and all that other nice stuff, like you do.
My warmest regards to you dear friend,
Twisty Admin

busy. :-)
I'm always happy to help out new remailer operators.

Next summer, borrow Steve Gieldas' scooter and take a ride north. I am only
5 miles from lake Erie, the Walleye capitol of the world <grin> Great
fishing!
Very nice of you to consider helping me out, where else can you find
friends like that but here?
