| I've just downloaded Firefox and Privoxy 3.0.3 on a WIN XP Pro system.
I've added the line forward-socks4a / 127.0.0.1:9050 . to the Privoxy
config.txt file and set the connection settings in Firefox to be on
127.0.0.1 on port 8118 for everything except the Socks Host.
And yes I have added an exception in the Windows Firewall for Privoxy!
Everytime Firefox starts I get a 503 Connect Failed:
Connect failed
Your request for http://blah.blah.net/ could not be fulfilled, because the
connection to blah.blah.net (127.0.0.1) could not be established.
This is often a temporary failure, so you might just try again.
Could somebody point me in the right direction please.
THanks
Fred

Check to see if TOR is working using SocksCap or Freecap.
Change the settings in sockscap to 127.0.0.1:9050.
If IE can run from this socksified then TOR is working.
TOR will also give you a message like "Looks like it's working."
Assuming TOR is working, check in Mozilla for the proxy:
127.0.0.1:8118 and use this for all of the protocols.

You do have Tor running, right?
If this error comes up quickly it's almost a sure bet that something is
keeping Tor from loading, or building a circuit. Post your Tor logs if you
have them available. Make sure to remove any IP information if you're not
safe logging. ;)
