It's because Google had to correct the "problem" they had
after sabotaging the *public* newsgroup "Groups" archives
in the wake of their bitter defeat on November 2nd, 2004;
after which their so-called "beta" kicked in and ruined
the Groups archives for everyone accessing them through
their local domain servers circa December 1, 2004. Ever
since then, all local domain Groups have been obfuscated.

Subsequently, us savvy google Groups users found that we
could still access the pre-election uncensored archives
through google's foreign-domain servers, e.g.:

http://www.google.co.in/groups?selm=<message_id>
http://www.google.co.uk/groups?selm=<message_id>
http://groups.google.com/groups?selm=<message_id>

http://www.google.co.in/advanced_group_search
http://www.google.co.uk/advanced_group_search
http://groups.google.com/advanced_group_search

Thus, google recently "corrected" their little oversight
and disabled all foreign-domain access to the uncensored
version of the archives just yesterday or the day before,
i.e. on or about May 5th, 2005, to wit. That must've been
what temporarily shut down the foreign dns's. But now it's
"back up", as you say. Now, *all* google Groups are ruined.

And now that google has completed their draconian liberal
censorship of the public newsgroup archives, the archives
are now effectively useless to anyone searching the Groups
for actual, original, uncensored and untruncated messages.

Google "Groups" is now effectively dead and buried, R.I.P.
But because U.S. federal government maintains the complete
archives, which are most likely subject to the Freedom of
Information Act, it is then likely that some conservative
freespeech-advocates out there across America and the free
world will step forward and republish the archives on-line,
leaving the poor-defeatist google liberals out in the cold.

And the feds have all the "x-no-archived" messages, which
could make searching messages that much more "interesting".
