Here are some instructions about how to get set up to send mail
untraceably, under Windows.

In order to send email and newsgroup messages untraceably, you need two
programs: Quicksilver and Mixmaster.

To get Quicksilver, use your browser and go to:
ftp://ftp.quicksilvermail.net/pub/quicksilver/

From the list, pick out the latest non-beta version of Quicksilver, which
is currently QS1.2.5.exe

Download it.
Install it by clicking on the file.
Take the defaults.

After it installs, or when you first try to run it, it will point out that
you don't have mixmaster installed, and will ask if you want it to find it
for you. The easiest thing to do is to choose 'yes'. Quicksilver will then
point you to the Quicksilver directory, from which you just downloaded
Quicksilver, and let you download mixmaster, which, currently, is
Mix29b39.zip.

After it downloads, Quicksilver will install it.

You can then run Quicksilver and it will download a load of remailer keys
and remailer information.

Read the Quicksilver help files, or ask here, if you can't figure out how
to post.

To help you get started, here are some basic instructions.

When you click on the 'templates' icon (near the top; second from left), you will see a screen
that looks much like the one below.

Fcc: outbox
Host: smtp.myhost.com
From: myid@myhost.com
Chain: *,*,*,*,*;copies=5
To: mail2news@news.gradwell.net,mail2news@dizum.com,mail2news@news.demon.co.uk
Newsgroups: alt.test,misc.test,alt.testing.testing,fr.test,de.test
Subject: My Subject

My message

Fcc: leave it at 'outbox'

Host: This is the name of the outgoing email server that your isp gave you when you signed up
with them. If you are already sending email with whatever email client you are using, this is
the 'smtp server' name.

From: This is your REAL email address. Don't worry, it won't show up in the message.

Chain: Use an asterisk for each remailer you want in your chain. You can pick the names of
remailers: Parsifal, Hastio, etc., but, for now, let Quicksilver pick them by using the
asterisks. You should specify as many copies as you have remailers, in this case, 5.

To: If you are sending an email, this field will contain the email address of the recipient. If
you are sending a newsgroup post, as here, this field contains the names of the mail2news
gateways that will take your message and send it through a news server.

Newsgroups: If you are sending a newsgroup posting, list the newsgroups, up to 5, to which you
are sending your message. Separate them by commas.

Subject: The subject of your message.

After the Subject, leave at least one carriage return - press the enter key once or twice, and
then begin your message.

The email address is needed by your isp so it knows it is one of its users using the smtp server.

The isp can't do anything with the information, since all it sees is an encrypted message going
to remailer 1. If you have used, say, 5 remailers in your chain, by the time your message ends
up on a newsgroup, thousands of other messages will have gone through the 5 remailers. Yours will
be untraceable.
