Hello,

I was reading the mixminion draft papers, in particular the
section about how "mixminion uses several ad hoc approaches to
distribute information about remailer availability, performance,
and keys...Mixminion uses a small group of synchronized
redundant directory servers to provide uniform information about
the network." (ie. Stats Updates)

Due to the fact mixminion is not quite ready for full release to
the general public; and most people use mixmaster I thought
about Echolot Stats pages in regards to defeating some
partitioning attacks against current (non-mixminion) stat
updates.

Echolot stats offer greater reliability, accuracy and less human
error than other sources of stat updates as the collection of
Echolot remailer stats is fully automated. It seems to me that
if everyone used Echolot stat updates than we would be able to
have greater defense against directory partitioning attacks. I
use Zax's Echolot stats update at <pinger.bananasplit.info>
because Zax offers an SSL connection on port 443.

On a side note I also route my stats updates through Stunnel and
Tor, my stats updates are multi-encrypted (SSL via. Stunnel and
TLS via. TOR) and multi-proxified (Onion Route 2 via. Tor).

Please let me know if my line of thinking is correct or just
wishfull thinking!

Thanks very much :-D
