The tests I have done, and tests by several others (thank you) indicate
that the nym is working, so please consider it for your use.

This is a periodic posting about the eelnym Mini-Nym.

If you want to have a replyable 'from' address while remaining
anonymous, then using a Nym is a good way to do it.

The problem with Nyms, however, is that they are difficult to set up.

The eelnym Mini-Nym takes care of that problem. All you need to do
is to create a key in the form: somename@something, and send it to
config@eelnym.yi.org. Here's the format of the message:

create
subject: somegibberish

your key

It will be added to the nym database within 15 minutes of its
arrival here, and you may then receive mail using the nym.

You can see other options to make the nym more useful by sending
email to remailer@eelbash.yi.org with a subject of eelnym-info.

Some notes:
No matter what your key, your 'from' address will be
somename@eelnym.yi.org.

So if you have a key lying around called fester@xyz.net,
then you can use that, and your 'from' nym address will be
fester@eelnym.yi.org.

The place where you receive mail is alt.anonymous.messages

The whole point of using a nym is that it gives the user a long term
address for people to mail them.

As I'm sure you are aware, you shut down your remailers and nym server
about once a month and then come back later with a completely new
..yi.org address.

People need reliability in their nyms. There is just no point using
your nym server as you can't provide that. The only reason you might
use it is if you are posting a message to a newsgroup and only expect
to need replies for a day or two.

Until you pledge to keep the server up for the long term, you won't
get many users as people will think that it will be gone soon enough.

Do you plan on shutting it down again soon? Are you in it for the long
haul this time? Let us know.

Your concern is legitimate, and it is understandble that the
remailer and nym will not necessarily be as heavily used,
given the up and down nature of those services, as they
would otherwise be, given the excellence of the services (when
they are up, that is).

Unless my isp is convinced by some psy....I mean, unless my isp, for some
reason, forces the remailer's closure, I'll keep it and the nym going.

Since I do regular backups of the C drive, and have a spare pc
if the one running the services should bite the dust, the services
should stay up, barring the usual screwups - nobody to reboot
because I'm travelling, etc.

Send an email to remailer@eelbash.yi.org, with remailer-key as the subject to get the remailer's key.

Send an email to remailer@eelbash.yi.org, with eelnym-info as the subject to get information about setting up the Eelnym Nym.

Yuk, a nym server running on Windows... How insecure...
