Author OK, So Linux/GPG Won't Work w/Remailers - Will Linux/Mixmaster?
George Orwell

2005-09-30, 2:46 am

So, the Linux/GPG thing is a lost cause with 95%+ of the Cypherpunks
remailers.

Does anyone know if Linux/Mixmaster will work?

It seems to me that it should have the same fatal problems that Linux/GPG
had
with the Cypherpunks remailers, but I may be missing something.

I just don't want to waste three more months beating yet another Linux dead
horse.

If anyone has had consistent success with Linux/Mixmaster and the T-2
remailers, please let me know - and if so, is there a Linux GUI frontend
for
Mixmaster?

Thanks!

http://www.pgpi.org/products/pgp/ve...re/unix/2.6.3i/
will work. I am sure of it. It is a pitty you were not able to resolve
your problems with GnuPG because that should run too with the right
settings IMHO.

If you are having problems with final hop UNIX based remailers there
is a formatting problem with your original crafted message.

There IS a problem if the final hop remailer is Reliable (Windows based)
ONLY when the original crafted message has UNIX EOL convention.

This is a "original crafted message"

You are missing the root cause of the problem.

It's not a lost cause, it just needs proper line ending translation, something
that I would honestly be surprized if it were not available in it's settings
someplace

I don't doubt it, several Mixmaster remailers are running on Linux

The closest I know of to that is if you compile mixmaster with ncurses you get
a rudimentary text based interface. But a windows style GUI like JBN or
Quicksilver? No, I don't believe such has been written yet.

I believe for GnuPG to work you need to format it as text/convert, and
install the idea plugin.

So the answer is to format the message correctly to match the
expectations of the recipient remailer? If it's nix based, the message
should be LF formatted. If it's windows based, the message should be
CRLF formatted.

Hello Zax,

No if that were the case NO user of DOS/Windows could have a
successfull CPunk message with a UNIX remailer as final hop.

The problem is that Reliable needs all EOL to be CRLF in the "headers"
portion of the original crafted message.

See below.

This is not an issue with the headers of the intermediate message of a
CPunk chain because EOL are made DOS by SMTP.
