I'm doing a round of 'remailer-key' and 'remailer-conf' messages and got
several delivery failure notifications:

Why would I need RFC2554 authentication to send a key request?

You should be surprised: I despise sorbs, spews and the rest of those
totalitarian fanatics. Unfortunately, my isp uses sorbs and there is
nothing I can do about it short of finding another isp, and I don't feel
like making the effort

How about doing like most remailer operators that defeat such totalitarian
fanatics by operating their own mail servers

Even *I* can manage to set up and operate a Mercury32 mailserver. It's
even secured against being an open relay. Setting up smtp auth wasn't all
that difficult at all. My only gripe is that it's TLS implementation
doesn't for smtp is broken/unreliable.
