Vi under windows: How to call mixmaster?
|
|

| Hi,
Under linux, it is possible, using Vim, to post text directly via
mixmaster, by calling with
:%!./{path}/mixmaster
If I try this in windows, I can't get it to work. The set-up of mixmaster
is as client, and JBN can process mix messages, but does mixmaster under
windows use mix.cfg, as in linux, or how else is the configuration
'configurable'?
Is this a windows incompatability with mix or with Vim or both?
Using gVim6.4, Win2k, mix 2.0.4

Ha! Got there in the end. If anyone else wants to play, Sylpheed can be set up
with Vim as its external editor, and used to post email or news directly via
mixmaster. A threaded email/news GUI mixmaster client, works in linux or
windows, with no more cut and paste! :-)

Yeah, but you have to actually think and type out a command or make it a
macro and use a key binding so Wintards are still left out in the cold.

Sure, and Vim is hardly intuitive; but I enjoyed working it out - and I was so
XXXXing fed up with cutting and pasting!! But all it takes is mapping the
command to a key, and getting Sylpheed to pass the right headers to Vim and it
becomes incredibly easy to use. Now all I have to remember is whether I mapped
<F2> for mail postings and <F3> for news or the other way round :-))
