Could someone please confirm/correct the following?
1. Some remailers pass From and Reply-To headers, but most overwrite
them with their own.
2. All remailers apply their own Message-ID header, overwriting
anything already there.
3. All (?) remailers allow References and Subject headers.
4. Do all remailers allow Supersedes headers, but the M2N gateways
don't allow them?
5. What about Date headers? Can I customize those?
6. Do remailers delete or overwrite any other headers?
Thanks.

Mostly true.

news posting or email ?

that depends upon the injection point, Subject is allowed

Thought the last one put it on

Does it matter? When I've used M2N gateways without remailers
(non-anonymously, I know) they pass along the Message-ID generated by
my MTA.
Someone said in APAS recently that remailers use a hash of the message
as part of the Message-ID so they can prevent duplicates. Right,
wrong, true for some but not all?

Do some not like References?
Thanks.

This message was sent via two or more anonymous remailing services.

True. Some allow it, most don't.

It depends. For email, yes. For usenet, I believe it is applied by the
M2N?

Yes.

Not all.

Not sure, but I don't think so.

Some remailers strip all except the essential headers, others only a
selected few. IIANM you can find this in each remailer's config listing. Go
here: http://www.noreply.org/echolot/thesaurus/
and click on the "Conf" column. Stripped headers are listed.
