I am getting a double encrypted message from one of my nyms. I'm sure it's the activation email from panta that's required before the account can be used. It starts with:

-----BEGIN PGP MESSAGE-----
Version: GnuPG v1.2.5 (GNU/Linux)

I don't have GnuPG and created my account using the PGP2 setup. How do I tell panta to only wrap my messages with PGP? I did edit my nym with a -cryptrecv switch. However, I still can't decrypt the messages coming from that account. I have successfully cr
eated a second account, with an activation email sent back to me as valid. I am now going to determine if the second account is in fact active.

ATTN: If you use PGP 2.6.x you have to include "PGP2" into the userid of

This is (one of the reasons) why Quacksilver sucks. This stuff is all
user-transparent and quite painless under JBN.

I did insert PGP2 into my user id for the question nym, yet I am still getting double encrypted messages with the inside message being encrypted with GnuPG.

The innermost layer of encryption should be encrypted to the key you sent
to the nymserver. If it isn't you're doing something wrong.

When PGP 6.5.8(ckt) is available for free on the internet, why the hell you
insist on GPG is beyond me.

You're none to bright, are you? It has nothing to do with QS. The problems
are with PGP 2.6 and Private Idaho.

That's Sassaman again, spreading anti-QS fud. Why to hell a supposedly
responsible individual would make stupid jokes like he does is a puzzle.

I will tell you this, if he continues to have _anything_ to do with
Mixminion, I will stay away from it.

It's not Sasaman, it's me. It's not a joke, either.

You're doing the same thing that you're accusing this Sassaman of doing,
spreading FUD. So go XXXX yourself.

I can't speak for the op, but *I* insist on GPG because I've never seen a linux version of 6.5.8 ckt. That, and I believe that the open pgp standard is a good idea.

The Version line does not really matter, its just a comment.
Its the packet format of the encryption layer that was changed after PGP2.x
You should be able to decrypt the GnuPG message with PGP2, as my nymserver
will use the old packet format if you included PGP2 into your userID. As a
general note, GnuPG is perfectly compatible with PGP, as they both use the
same encryption standard (OpenPGP).

Why it is wrapped into two layers I dont know, but you got one nym working
so I am sure you will find out.

Hope this helps,
Cheers,
panta-admin

You're not very good at this, eelbash.

Len Sassaman *likes* QS. He has helped Richard to get it working with
Mixmaster, is fully supportive of QS, and loves the fact that someone
is still developing a windows mixmaster client. Richard, the author of
QS, considers Len a friend.

If you're going to try and copy Frog, at least get it right. Frog was
claiming that Len spread anti-*JBN2* fud, not anti-QS fud. You really
can't get anything right.

Good, please do. Nobody wants you anywhere near Mixminion, eelbash.

Panta Admin and others, I have got one of my nyms working and I will attempt to create another one. I want to thank everyone for helping me resolve my issues. I like Private Idaho and would really like to stay with this application as long as possible, wh
ich means that I need to stay with PGP 2.6.X. It's unfortunate that I opened up a hornets nest with my questions to the group.
