Ok I hope i'm as clear as I can be.
I'm running Windows XP Pro version 2002 with service pack 2 and all microsof
t updates. with a linksys router and a linksys cable modem.

My computer name is webs-ac732caa83
My IP Address is : 192.168.1.105
Im installed the IIS that came on the XP Pro Cd which is v5.1

I have also Apache installed with php and mysql and everything works fine th
ere except I cant get it to send mail. So I thought I install IIS and SMTP
so I can use microsoft programs but I cant get it to work properly

IIS is installed with all default settings
I went in and gave it my IP address (right clisk on mycomputer icon, then ma
nage, then services and application, then internat information services, Web
Sites, then properties on default website.)

when I type http://webs-ac732caa83 I get the default IIS web page.

when I type http://192.168.1.105 I get a user login box?

when I type in http://localhost I get the standard IE page not found the one
you get when the network is down.

with apache I can type everything in and it works fine... I dont know about the ht
tp://Computer_Name address since I never tried it while apache was running.

I stop apache services when im trying to run IIS

Why am I being asked for a password and username when I use my Ip address an
d why does it not find my web page when I type the localhost.

Thank you in advance
Richard
