There won't be a mixminion for windows.

http://mixminion.net/dist/0.0.7.1/M...0.7.1.win32.zip

There's just no compiled Windows binary for the latest Alpha. At least
not an official one, someone else might have generated their own. Which
is what the OP was asking.

Ironically enough, I believe the only real GUI shell for Mixminion is a
Win32-only critter.

Now that that's cleared up, to the OP...

Mixminion is written in Python isn't it? Can Windows users do the
'python setup.py install' thing if they have the interpreter? Or are
there C libraries that need compiled also?

Maybe you should be the one to compile it. <grinning>

you have knowledge of this how? from whom? PGP Signed I suppose from Nick
M?

I hate to break it to you, but there already *IS* a mixminion for windows,
has been for a long time. don't believe me? check the http://mixminion.net
site and look at the download section yourself.
What I was asking about is a windows build of the latest version... seems
the builders left it open for anyone to do... I would, but I haven't got
the tools or know-how for that kind of thing.

mixminion is open source, cross platform software. all that's needed is
somebody with know-how and time to do it. Nick M didn't do it cause he
didn't have time is only reason I know of.

Nick was hoping that someone else would take on the role of maintaining
Windows binaries. It's very simple to produce them as Nick's setup code
is excellent, but you need to have MS Visual Studio v6. All the other
software, Python, Py2Exe, OpenSSL etc are free downloads. No doubt
someone with good software skills could make it work with later versions
of VS.

Just out of curiousity.. any chance of getting it going with an EARLIER
version of MSVC++? specifically MSVC++ 4.0? I've actually got a copy of
that (legit no less! original MS CD's in origianl jewel cases)

I understand there's copies of S Visual Studio v6 floating around, but I
think M$ would frown on people using them.

I doubt it would work. My Visual Studio v7 wouldn't, although I
doubt the problem was significant for someone who knows what they're
doing. When it comes to compilation under windows, I'm clueless.
