Virtual Moderation?

| Any chance killfiles can be used to protect a group by a combination of
whitelisting / killfiling?
For example, suppose a bunch of guys like to hang out in some group and
talk about their boats and fishing and so on. Suppose the group is called
rec.ponds.
Suppose rec.ponds has been invaded by a bunch of idiot lowlifes who use
remailers to forge the emails of regular posters, who troll, and who have
directed a lot of spam into the group.
What can be done?
Well, here's my suggestion. Have the regulars learn to use killfiles so
that the only from headers they let through are those of the 5 or 10 or 20
regulars they enjoy chatting with.
Block all messages with 'comments:' or 'mail2news' in the headers (this
gets rid of almost all messages coming from remailers).
Have one of the regulars not use the whitelist/killfile combination,
though he can safely block the comments/mail2news. He will relay posts
from newcomers who seem to be sane, and the regulars can add the new guy
to their whitelist if they wish.
Do the popular mail clients have killfile software that can do what I am
suggesting?
What do you think?

What you really need is a good challenge/response system!

| [Apparently from alt.privacy.anon-server,rec.ponds. rec.ponds snecked.]
[Disclaimer: In the off-chance that this is a legit question/answer.]

Huh? *You* (the OP) use a remailer and *you* have 'mail2news' in your
(Organization:/Path headers. Do you want to killfile yourself?
[vbcol=seagreen]
You mean *news* clients, i.e. newsreaders, don't you? If so, the
answer is yes. If you need to killfile on headers other than From:,
Message-ID:, References:s, Bytes:, Lines: and Xref:, then you need an
offline reader or a filter program (like NFilter) or a 'personal'
news-server (like Hamster).
If you need help with finding/using such newsreaders, then come over
to news.software.readers, preferably as a non-anon user, and do *not*
crosspost to rec.ponds (and preferably also not to
alt.privacy.anon-server).

Of course, why would I want to read my own posts again?
