I've followed the instructions on Panta's sight as to get JBN working
under Wine in Ubuntu Linux but have so far been unsuccessful. Crossover
office makes no difference either. Are there any plans for Linux based
remailer tools in the near future?

I use kubuntu and Mixmaster with the ncurses interface. It should be fairly easy to install the
complete Mixmaster package into ubuntu also, using adept or apt-get.

Whammo

Why would you want to run JBN under linux? It already has a bunch of
remailer tools. You can even post anonymously right from your normal
mail and news client most of the time.

Could you list which news and email clients are able to do this? I'm using
debian and haven't been able to find which ones can do it. Also, would you
have links to information on how to set these up? We have icedove, pim and
slrn.

Thanks.

Mutt supports mixmaster directly (a compile time option). Adding
support to slrn is a few lines of script in the ~/.slrn directory and a
single line in your ~/.slrnrc config file. Google - using mixmaster with
slrn - and it should be toward the top of the list.

I know I've seen similar setups for sendmail that anonymize all
outgoing traffic too. In fact most clients that can deliver mail
locally using sendmail or one of it's variants included with
almost all MTA's *should* be able to pipe to Mixmaster

A while back someone posted a script here that seemed to be able to
handle messages in #MH format. You saved your anonymous message as a
draft and ran the script. It stripped headers and fed the remainder to
mixmaster. Needed a little work though as I remember.

I don't see any reason that wouldn't work for something like Leafnode
too, since it's essentially a-one-file-per-message critter. You could
run your own server configured "read only" and suck messages out of the
outgoing spool in a cron job or something.
