anonymous post block?
|
|
| Nomen Nescio 2007-10-25, 7:14 am |
| I have tried to post twice (anonymously) to alt.drugs.psychedelic and neither post
showed up. I tried posting to a test newsgroup using the same remailers, and it
showed up.
Is it possible that someone is blocking anonymous posts to newsgroups? My mail.log
says that the post was sent.

I assume Message ID: <ed563b4711af3d909f13f56c9b128b5c@dizum.com> was one
of them. If so, I do see that one on one of the news servers I regularly
connect to.
Another five of news servers do not even carry the group
alt.drugs.psychedelic, but rather only the group alt.drugs.psychedelics.
This leads me to believe that possibly the mail2news used in your failed
message(s) do not carry alt.drugs.psychedelic either, so it's not a matter
of evil blocking but just the fact that the mail2news has no group to which
to send the message. Many times when two groups (alt.drugs.psychedelic &
alt.drugs.psychedelics for example) are so similar that one is deemed a
"rogue", defunct, or unnecessarily duplicated group and many news providers
will only carry one. Even google groups doesn't seem to archive
alt.drugs.psychedelic.
Just a guess.

Looks like my guess was wrong. Further investigation leads me to conclude
that you (Mr. Nescio) intended to followup to two messages in
alt.drugs.psychedelics and typo-ed the Newsgroups: header to be
alt.drugs.psychedelic. The messages do appear there, so if you expected to
see them in alt.drugs.psychedelics nothing blocked you except your fat
fingers.

Yes, I realized that a few hours before I saw your posts when I tried to do a
search on google groups for alt.drugs.psychedelic. I'm not used to having to
type out the names of the newsgroups manually. Hopefully I'll be able to link
one of our news readers to mixmaster.
Thanks for the input.
