You're getting a 'faked HELO' because you're using one of my domain
names or ip addresses in your HELO. Try using anything else, it doesn't
even have to be valid.

Pardon me for jumping in -- but I am also a QuickSilver user, and I haven't
GOD's own notion of what in HELL (or "HELO"?) you are babbling about! What
in the name of all things sinister is a "HELO" ??? And how does one go about
setting a "domain name or IP address" in the aforesaid "HELO" when using
QuickSilver ???
Better still, since the problem apparently lies in the fact that this "HELO"
thingy (whatever that is) is NOT supposed to contain your "domain name or IP
address", how does one UNset the name or address in one's "HELO" ???
Kindly stop assuming that everyone is as expert as you are! We're not!!!

Then why not google for it?? You should be able to quickly find its
meaning, take this website e.g.:

And many more of course!

I don't wish to sound churlish; I'm grateful that the admin took the time
to answer at all; but How far back do you have to go to get a simple
explanation, and why should you have to go anywhere other than this group?
This group is for people who want to learn about anonymity. Shouldn't the
experts take care to describe things simply and clearly when they are
talking to a newbie?

A HELO (or EHLO) is the email equivalent of you introducing yourself to
someone. Using my computer name to say HELO to my computer is therefore
a faked identity. You can be anyone else except me.

Afraid I have no idea as I've not looked at Quicksilver for years. I
could download it and play with it but I'm sure another QS user can
provide you with a better answer than I can. If you don't get an answer
here, try the QS mailing lists at
http://www.quicksilvermail.net/lists.html

In this instance I could only answer the question by identifying the
symptoms. The cure is beyond my knowledge and control.

QS let's you change the HELO.
Use this header
Sign-On: nowhere.net
Just put it among the headers in your message. It doesn't have to be
nowhere.net Could be any domain.

Zax gave you the URL for the QS support lists. Don't you think that's

I had this same problem recently. Here's the solution I found:
In the QS template I use these headers:
Fcc: outbox
Host: 127.0.0.1:2525
Sign-on: none.invalid
From: foo@bar.invalid
Chain: banana,*,*,*; copies=3
To:
Subject:
The 'Sign-on:' header tells Qs what to use for the HELO (or EHLO) part
of the exchange with the smtp server
Then in stunnel.conf I have the following entry:
[BANANA_TLS_SMTP]
protocol = smtp
accept = 127.0.0.1:2525
connect = mail.bananasplit.info:2525
delay = no
QS then connects to Bananasplit.info's smtp by way of Stunnel. This
means that not only is the connection direct to the remailers smtp, but
by using stunnel it's encrypted also. If you take the extra step of
running TOR and sockifying stunnel, your connection to Bananasplit is
then anonymized as well.
For more details have a look at this:

Eelbash, Zax responded perfectly politely. He simply said that his
server reports that error when the HELO command contains his domain
name.
How exactly is he supposed to know whether or not QS did it by default
or whether the OP used a QS Header command to change the helo or
anything else? All he could reply was why it happened.
PS: Your software is still outing you in your posts. Seriously,
consider downloading a hex editor and looking at your posts. If you're
going to out yourself without your knowledge in every post you make,
you may as well not even bother posting through remailers. It's worth
the time to download that hex editor.

I gather from this question that you do not consider this newsgroup ALSO

As the author of QS doesn't consider this newsgroup a form of QS
support, and only reads the QS Support list, then yes I would say
that I do not consider this newsgroup to be a form of QS support.

5 years ago, the author of QS and many other knowledgeable people did read
this group, and questions like that of the OP would have been answered
directly.
Why has that changed?

It most certainly is not, according to the emphatic statements of the
author himself.
Sorry.

Because of the floods and the poster(s) who can't do anything but insult
everyone. Nost of the helpful people left and some of us remops have
switched to being anon and rarely read/post because of the noise and
idiots who are incapable of posting anything but ego dripping insults.

Richard (the author) was subjected to a tirade of abuse by Frog Admin
and decided to move away from the group. You can look back through
Google Groups for the PGP signed message where Richard announced his
mailing lists and how he wouldn't read the group any more.

Well, that's not exactly true. Richard was still here for a while
after Frog left. The abuse was directed at many people in the group.
He moved support to mailing lists so that this group wouldn't be
constantly bombarded by support requests. Turns out there has not
been much support needed on the lists as far as I can see.
I don't think the amount of support requests here has been bad. I
doubt he minds too much. Considering he can't control it anyway.
