Problems checking email
|
|
|
| I am having problems getting Thunderbird to download my college email.
I can connect and check my email via telnet so I am pretty sure that it
is not a problem on their end. I was able to check my email via the
Mozilla Suite but when I switched over to Thunderbird it for some reason
stopped. I have checked, double checked, and rechecked all the settings
so I cannot figure out what can be wrong. Any help is very appreciated!

It would be helpful if you explained exactly what the problem is <g>
Do you get an error message (and if so, what does it say?)?
When does it 'fail'? Any indications of a problem?

I apologise. The error messages was
"Sending of password did not succeed. Mail server mail.atu.edu responded:"
and
"Sending of username did not succeed. Mail server mail.atu.edu
responded: USER"
I have emailed their "tech support" but as of yet have not gotten a reply.

Are you certain your user name is as specified?
While most servers use the username to the left of the @ symbol alone,
some require the full username i.e. youremail@atu.edu or some such
While capitalization doesnt matter in most cases, there have been very
rare occassions where it did.
