| Why do I consistently get this error message on Thunderbird when viewing
items on a newsgroup? 'uk.sci.weather' in this case. It maybe nothing to
do with TB, but I never remember seeing anything like this on, dare I
say, Outlook Express or Google Newsgroups.
<snip>
Error!
newsgroup server responded:Bad article number
Perhaps the article has expired

Click here to remove all expired articles

Because the message has expired most likely, or has been cancelled.
The message no longer exists on the newsgroup.
If you click to remove all expired articles, then TB will remove all the
expired messages from the list for you.
Each newsgroup has a different retention time, set by the news server it
is on. Some might be in days (or even hours!), but most have a two week
or longer retention period. Once messages 'expire' they no longer exist
on the server and you will see that message in their place.
