Author Bookmark's favicons not working for some sites. Is it a bug ?

I am running Firefox 1.5.0.1 under Windows XP SP2.

I noticed that the favorite icon (favicon) is stored in the
"bookmarks.html" (base-64 encoded) file located in :

C:\Documents and Settings\<USER DIR>\Application
Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<USER PROFILE DIR>\bookmarks.html

(there is an ICON XML attribute in the Bookmark element)

If I add "http://www.gmail.com/" to my bookmarks and then click on the
newly created Bookmark item to open GMail :

1/ The favicon is correctly displayed in the Tab.
2/ The favicon is correctly displayed in the URL Field.
3/ ... but only the default icon is displayed in the Bookmark.

If I do the same with "http://www.google.fr/" then everything is OK
(Tab + URL + Bookmark)

I found a trick which consists of setting (file "pref.js") both
"browser.chrome.site_icons" and "browser.chrome.favicons" to "true" but
it seems that Firefox 1.5 does not read them (no change)

I can reproduce it all the time.

=> It seems that for some reason, Firefox fails in loading the
bookmark's favicon for some Web sites.

1/ Does Firefox use a different method to update Bookmark's favicon
than to update Tabs and URL Field ?

2/ Is there a special setting (Firefox or registry setting) which could
solve my problem ?

3/ Do you think it is a bug ? If so, I will post it to Bugzilla.

PS: I would like to avoid using the "Favicon Picker" Firefox extension
tool because it implies that you manually set the favicons.

Thanks in advance for your help.

I already did it but did not find anything about that case.
I wanted people from this forum try and tell me if they reproduce it
before I send it to Bugzilla.
