Mozilla Browser - Mozilla 1.7.12 will not convert NC 4.8 user account data

Mozilla 1.7.12 will not convert NC 4.8 user account data - W98SE

Hi, after succesful install on a senior citizen W98SE machine Mozilla 1.7.12
performs fine for browsing and emailing.

However, when prompted from the account dialog box it will not convert the
existing netscape 4.8 user data, sitting on C: as well.

It apparaently recognizes their presence, but neither of the 6 accounts, when
prompted, is processed nor converted.
The app just sits and does nothing, as seen on the system monitor.

So, how to get the existing c. 2GB user data converted under Mozilla 1.7 ?
Any suggestions?
