Do Firefox 1.0x tweaks work in Fx 1.51?

After upgrading Firefox to 1.5, I noticed that some of the settings I
had changed in 1.07 no longer worked. For instance, one of the biggest
irritations in downloading files has returned - the dialog which asks me
if I want to save an exe file to disk even though there is no other
option. I recall having made a change in one of the prefs files which
eliminated this behavior in previous versions, and I'm wondering if 1.5
has overwritten those tweaks or is just ignoring them.
