cannot remove a password

| In Tools-Options-Privacy-Passwords. I cannot remove my sitemeter.com
passwords (9 of them) they are the only ones giving me problems. I removed
their subsequent cookies, removed "Allow" in cookies and all I can think of,
but when I go to "View Passwords", and remove them, then immediately revisit
(or after restart firefox) the view passwords they are there.

go into your profile and make sure the password file isn't marked as
read only. Your password file with be either an 8 digit number that
ends in an "s" such as 12345678.s or it will be signons.txt

| I found it under signons.txt, it wasn't read only but I removed the
passwords via Notepad. I think the problem was I have 9 sitemeter(s) and
saved all the passwords. Unlike IE, (when you double click in the field a
drop down of possible user names shows) Firefox automatically fills the
fields. I had too many. I wanted to delete them and start over and "not this
time" (when prompted to save) and then it brings up at least a list of user
names...
