Author Firefox gives up too soon
Gualtier Malde

I'm using FF 1.5.0.1 in Windows 2000 pro, on Comcast broadband.

Sometimes when I'm accessing a site, such as a movie trailer on IMDB,
and the little whizzer is rotating, FF will give me a "time out" window
and stops the process.

Since this is a recent phenomenon coincident with my switch to FireFox
from netscape Mail, I am suspecting there is something I can set to get
FF to be more patient.

Thanks
BOB

OK, this is where I need a Virgil, when entering the dark world of the
register, right? I don't go there but will if I have any idea of what
to look for. It's terra incognita for me, so please give me a brief map
to where Prefetch is located.

Gualtier Malde is Italian. Sort of operatic, actually.

Thanks

Not unless Comcast (headquartered in Philadelphia, PA) opened a
subsidiary in Australia.

Prefetch is in preferences in mozilla and in options in firefox, turn
it on, if it helps then good, if not then sorry :'(

Italian hey... That is the place where most of the mafia movies are
based on. Like the godfather you know? The Corleone family?

"I'm gonna make em an offer he can't refuse" And then he puts a dead
horse head in the guy's bed and he doesn't refuse. Remember that? Yeah
most italians are shown as bloodthirsty killers in the movies and on
tv, but I guess that's not true. Of course I don't know but you seem
like a nice guy to me.

You're welcome, please don't kill me [Ha, Just kidding, seriously, I
am joking around, please dont take offense, have a nice day sir]

Why would you presume that? Mullen is a pretty common name. You do
realize that you replied to someone other than Gualtier, don't you?

Oh, I am so sorry. Please continue. Sometimes these threads get
confusing with all the replies to replies...
So what were you about to say?

OK, here's the deal. Aliases are server-specific, not newsgroup
specific. Some newsgroups are full of crazies. Not this one, I think.

Gualtier Malde was the name taken by the Duke of Mantua when he was
posing as a poor student so he could seduce Gilda (pronounced: Jeel-da
instead of the way Gilda Radner did). Gilda was the daughter of the
court fool, Rigoletto, and she herself will be killed by an assassin
hired by her father to kill the duke, when ... oh heck, go see it when
it comes to town.

But, yes, he was a bad dude. One of the first characters in the opera
is Monterone, who had the temerity to get pissed when the duke seduced
*his* daughter and was being led off to execution. Rigoletto teases him
and Monterone curses him and the curse weighs on Riggy like a 50 pound
calzone. So then he... Shit, I started again.

Go see it.

My real name is Chuck Bollinger.

Now, BOB - I'm darned if I can find any turn on in any of the options
sections and tabs in my Firefox. Short of dropping in for steak and
fries, can you get me even closer?

Thanks
Miller

Looking for native prefetch-option of Firefox?
Type "about :config" in FF's addressbar and filter for "prefetch".
You should get something like "network.prefetch-next - default - boolean - true"

bye, Miller
