Author Rename Profile(s)?

Sometimes I have to reinstall Firefox, Thunderbird and Sunbird.
Afterward, I have to stuff my profiles from their previous incarnations.
But THEN I discover that I have been using the "default" profile
rather than my own.

Let me suggest two features to help mitigate the pain: First, make the
installation process always ask "Do you want to continue with the
default profile or would you like to select or create one?" and, a
profile rename feature in the profile manager.

Huh? What does that second sentence mean?

When you uninstall or upgrade a Mozilla application your profiles are
not touched. If you have been starting you apps using a customized
shortcut that defines the profile to use it may be that after
re-installation you're now using a generic one that doesn't point to a
particular profile. Or, if you've mucked about with profile naming or
locations you've confused the apps.

If you have not moved or renamed (at the system level) any of the
profiles, the apps should find them just fine.

Really, some more detail is needed regarding just what you've done to
yourself here! ;-)

There might be some confusion if you switched to a localised version (or
some other localisation), because sometimes, they change the word
‘default’ to something else...
