Hi all.

I can export my e-mail in .eml format with my minimac osX tiger

My problem is that I CAN't open .eml files simply clicking on them.
I have to oper thunderbird, go to file menu... then select open file...
then point the file!

Is it possible to open .eml file just clicking on them

Thunderbird is my defoult mail application

Tks fot help

I really don't know, but try this:

Control + Click on the .eml file, and choose Get Info from the context menu.

Under Open With, drop down the menu. If TB is on it, select it and
click Change All. That should associate TB with .eml files in OS X.

I changed "mail" to "thunderbitd" but now, whe I click on .eml files,
thunderbirds open a NEW MESSAGE window... not the clicked file.

It is better than before but not enough ;-(

It's been a long time since I've used Windows regularly, but I think you
can put %1 in the command edit box to let TB know what file to open.

The equivalent of this works on Linux to let TB open both its main
window and the saved .eml file.

Op is asking about Mac OS X though.

CB, I think opening the file in a message window is probably the best
you will get. Indeed, what result are you expecting?

mmm... maybe!
I expected to open the saved file (.eml) automatically simply clicking
on it just as it happens with windows.

Tks a lot

I am sorry, I misread you completely. You mean TB opens a Write
(Compose) window instead of the eml file. I thought you meant that the
eml file opened in a message window, which would be fine. I'll have to
experiment a bit, and I'll get back to you.

Not much help, but I can confirm the problem. If TB is open, clicking
on an eml on my desktop opens a Compose window. If TB is closed,
clicking on it opens the main TB window. In either case, the open way
to open the file is via the File menu. Its a know issue, here is the
bug number:
